We took the foundation and built much upon it. She was not able to just give us the capital to get where we are today but…
What I did get was something worth more than that, a mother who understood money in a way most people never will.
She didn't teach us to love money. She taught us to respect it. To live with it honestly. To learn how to make it work for us, instead of spending our lives working for it.
She was humble. She was helpful. She was thankful. And she was giving, not for the sake of giving, but because she saw her blessings as a way to be a blessing. When she had knowledge, she shared it. When she found an opportunity, she brought others along. When she built something, she built it to last.
That foundation is what we stand on today. I am showing my kids the same path of grace that was shown to me. We are blessed and we aim to be like the water, and the trees to the world around us.
JLC Family Office exists because of her. Every investment we make, every decision we take, every family we help, it starts with what she taught me at a kitchen table a long time ago: take care of what you have, learn how to grow it, and never forget where you came and when you give, do so with a joyful heart.
